Intuitive Soul Art journaling

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Thursday, July 29, 2010, In : Visual Art & Soul Journalling
Isn't time to go beyond words? I for one love love love Julia Cameron's work, and was part of a group we called "The Rivonia Circle" several years ago who did the "Artist's Way" course together. Really great stuff. However, years on, I am not seeing anything to take us all further! What's the next step?

Again, plenty online and overseas when we google, but we want something home grown for locals. Introducing Visual Art Journaling and Soul Pages! Classes and workshops will draw on a wealth of r...

The power of photos

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, In : Photography and Your Art
Photographing your art serves so many purposes.

Of course it's a way to share it with art friends (who understand it's not always that easy!) - to keep it as a record for yourself personally, and to start a portfolio. Having a portfolio allows you to browse back over your creations over time, and recognise the progress you make. After all, just making art in the first place is progress, as many of us know! Yet so many people really never acknowledge themselves when they do.

We believe it also ...

Why I am so loving it...

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, In : Power Painting
Power Painting...I am so drawn to this form of expression right now. Maybe it's because it's so contained - I know that it's not difficult to complete a small box canvas. Perhaps it's because I love box canvas - they can be hung immediately on your wall, with a simple nail or two, no frame required. Well, these are good reasons for sure, because they make this kind of art less daunting and harder to find reasons to procrastinate over.

Mostly though, the reason is the awesome time it gives me ...

Amazing inspiration

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Monday, July 12, 2010, In : Visual Art & Soul Journalling
Well, I am moved yet again by the power of everyday life to reinforce why expressive art is so important to me. The vulnerabilities each of us have show up from time to time, and when we're able to share or express this in some way a shift happens, perhaps a form of healing. But what if you don't have a person to express it too? Or the people you'd like to share it with are not receptive? Enter the blank page, the blank canvas and our tools of the artist trade. Whether you choose crayons, oil...

A fresh coat of paint

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Monday, July 12, 2010, In : Art Studio
There's nothing quite like refreshing a space with new paint.  I've chosen to go pristine white for my studio walls and a stunning silver for the wooden furniture.  Tomorrow, I meet with B at the studio for the first time since the big paint job began, to begin filling it with juicy supplies.  We are just 2 working weeks away from our first workshop! I am delighted to host it in such a loved space - and will be keeping workshops small to accommodate them at the studio rather than going to lar...

Big Girl Panties

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Sunday, July 11, 2010, In : Fun and Networking
LOL!

I just logged into a women's only website, Female Tribe, and found a most delicious and daring post by their online coach. She is also responsible for networking, so I am eagerly awaiting to see what she can coach me on. I am sure I will have all my dreams comes true this year :-) This was my response to her raving about being 42 and able to step into her Big Girl Panties at last...

Dearest BIG GIRL PANTY wearer Reading your post couldn't have come at a better time - I'm on the site b...

What is Power Painting?

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Sunday, July 11, 2010, In : Power Painting
Well, I feel a bit conflicted about using the name now, because while I was busily designing my courses, along came an invitation to attend a 2 day workshop in none other than...Power Painting.   When I looked at the info, it was actually an Intuitive Painting process they were going to follow.  So, since we'd already called our Intuitive Painting process something else (Soul Painting), I totally understood where this name was coming from.  The facilitator's own personal take on the process, ...

A place to call home

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Sunday, July 11, 2010, In : Art Studio
Well, the Creativity Gym Studio has been painted!  It's new look hopefully transforms it from an ordinary space to something between a white cube and a paint party venue.  A place for fellow Soul Painters and Intuitive Creatives to call home.  We will be opening our studio on the 25 July and holding classes from the 27 July 2010. Woohooo!

We are planning a soft launch after our initial workshops and classes being held until Spring this year have completed.  By then we will have a humble but gr...

A new wave coming?

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Sunday, July 11, 2010, In : Business and Art
I have been wondering for over a year now whether the wave of Intuitive Art is gaining momentum worldwide, and is about to crash onto South African shores.  When I piloted Creativity Gym (see our FB page for juicy photos and upcoming events ) last year, I began researching what similar concepts existed.  ArtJamming seemed to be the closest, but they didn't combine movement or exercise.  They've been around since their birth in 2002 in Hong Kong, and are now franchised globally.  From what I c...

Making Soul Art as affordable as possible

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Saturday, July 10, 2010, In : Affordability and Art
In case you saw our workshops and classes, loved it, but are on a tight budget...you're not alone! Based on similiar feedback we have extended the way we work and what we offer to make it more affordable for all. We will continue to do so in the hopes that everyone who wants to enjoy their creativity can afford to do so. Here are some of the ways we are trying to make it achievable for everyone to get some much needed Soul Time with their favourite art forms...

Taster sessions and "mini-works...

Intuitive Painting in our bones

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Thursday, July 8, 2010, In : Soul Painting
My partner-in-crime, Brenda and I both have Intuitive Painting in our bones. It resonates with our souls...and feeds our spirit. And it makes perfect sense to our "right brains"...the creative side of our minds that craves the light especially when we've done long stretches in the left brain world of business. We're offering our courses because we love it, believe in it and want to learn and share everything there is to experience in it. It engages the whole self - yet gives the "logical self...

Intuitive Painting in South Africa

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Thursday, July 8, 2010, In : Intuitive Art
Intuitive painting is alive and well in many parts of the world...but for some reason has not yet spread throughout South Africa. Hopefully we will be able to say differently soon! Our first Soul Painting workshop is on 25 July 2010, and we are almost fully booked! Let us know if you have ever had any Intuitive Painting or Art experiences...and where.  My google searches show a lot of activity in the USA and some in Oz...not sure if Europe is active too but not showing up because my searches ...
