What is Power Painting?

Posted by Michelle Jacobs on Sunday, July 11, 2010 Under: Power Painting
Well, I feel a bit conflicted about using the name now, because while I was busily designing my courses, along came an invitation to attend a 2 day workshop in none other than...Power Painting.   When I looked at the info, it was actually an Intuitive Painting process they were going to follow.  So, since we'd already called our Intuitive Painting process something else (Soul Painting), I totally understood where this name was coming from.  The facilitator's own personal take on the process, and her own chosen name.  Fabulous!

Only problem?  My Power Painting is something completely different.  It's about creating a painting on small box canvas that has personal power embedded into it.  The kind of art that has meaning, intention, symbology and affirmation painted all over it.  The kind that hangs neatly, stunningly in your home afterwards and continues to inspire you for a very long time after the workshop or course you did it in.  Hopefully, it inspires you to create more, and one day, if we had to come over and have tea, we'd see a whole wall of baby power paintings that had sprung up like magical mushrooms over time.  Magical because they dialogue with you in an extraordinary way everyday, filling you up and spurring you on to take on your world with all your sparkle and glory.  And mushroom like, because they grew in the dark, out of the deeper places inside yourself, from that space so often overlooked within.
